Chenyang Liu (Nancy), a SAIF MBA student, is exchanged to University of New South Wales (UNSW). As looking back the experience of exchange study at UNSW, Nancy considers that the most valuable thing is to gain world-class learning experience and discover other countries’ beautiful sceneries.

The courses at UNSW expand Nancy’s knowledge of financial theory and give her an insight into how finance differs worldwide. “UNSW offers a broad range of courses in Finance. These courses have enabled me to develop skills in risk analysis, fund management as well as international banking management. What’s more, applied learning activities, both in and outside class, have familiarized me with Australian banking system and banking regulation in depth. In addition, I have gained an extraordinary network of really talented friends who work worldwide. Interestingly, some of them who have a strong confidence in the development of Chinese financial market have planned to find a job in China.” said Nancy.

As an English saying goes that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Travel is not only a good way to relax, but also learn about different cultures. As the exchange study at UNSW drew to an end, Nancy travelled to New Zealand. “I really love New Zealand, where it boasts a magnificent combination of the most beautiful natural sceneries. Beautiful sunshine, Tasman sea and shining-green grasslands were so flawless that I was kept being amazed by the nature’s magic power. I even tried adrenaline-pumping white water rafting on the river surrounded by snow-capped mountain.” said Nancy. Travel time is the perfect opportunity to meet new people and make friends. During the travel time, Nancy made travel friends from U.S, Switzerland, India etc. "It’s really interesting to be with people from different cultures. I learnt the Swiss usually say ‘skull’ instead of cheers when they toast. The reason why they say skull is, the winner of a war cut loser soldiers’ heads and used their skulls as wine glasses in mediaeval Europe.” said Nancy.

Nancy hopes that more SAIFers are able to have opportunities to gain unique study abroad experiences.
